As the old saying goes, “You have to spend money to make money.” But what if that’s no longer true?

Solve peoples problems for them

Everyone has problems, and almost everyone loves talking about them. Go to the places online where people discuss and search for solutions to their problems. Popular social networks like Facebook and Twitter, online forums, and classified sites like Craigslist are a good start.

Incentivize sharing

Provide your customers with discounts in exchange for sharing your products on social media. Contests and giveaways are also very effective at creating buzz, and you can give your own products away to cut down on the cost of running them.

Create an affiliate program

Go the extra mile and create an affiliate program so your customers can make money selling your products on their own websites and blogs. Tools like Tapfiliate are an affordable to get started.

Reach out to bloggers and Youtubers

Get bloggers and YouTubers to review your products by giving them a free copy. Everyone loves to be asked for their opinion, and you will benefit greatly from the publicity.

Guest blogging

This can be a bit of a delicate one, because often people will be far too “salesy” with their guest posts, focusing more on trying to sell their own products rather than providing value to the reader.

Make sure that if you decide to mention your products, you do a “soft sell” in a way that the reader can benefit from.

Reach out to your existing network

Don’t underestimate the power of the network you currently have access to. Your friends, family, and colleagues will likely be happy to help spread the word. They may even be interested in your product themselves.

Do it the old fashioned way

Sell to people in person. Depending on your target audience, they may not even be spending much time online anyway. Make some real, human connections and start networking locally.

Give it away

“What? Give it away for free? I thought you were going to tell me how to get customers not start a charity.”

People buy from people. You need to focus on building relationships, rather than just making the sales pitch all the time. Focus on the needs of your potential customers, solve their problems for free, and the money will follow later.
