“I’m not a morning person”. One of the most common five-word sentences known to man. And there’s a reason for that. Mornings suck. The whole concept of being forcibly woken up by a shrieking alarm, to physically remove yourself from a comfy coccoon of love and warmth, to prepare your body for a full day of work at a job you hate… yah, not great.

I don’t care how many cute animals are trying to help me wake up. Go away.

But, it can be easier to wake up in the morning. A few highlighted tips on how to become a morning person:

  • Skip the snooze button
    • No matter how tempting it is, don’t hit that snooze button when your alarm goes off. Doing so can actually disrupt your sleep cycles and can leave you feeling more tired when you wake up.
  •  Put your phone away
    • Before going to bed, make sure any electronic device is out of arms reach or, even better, outside your room entirely. And stop using your devices 45 minutes before your bedtime.
  • Have a morning workout
    • This one is probably the hardest to stick to, because it requires you waking up even earlier on a regular basis. (and also exercising) Research shows that we have our best workouts when we do it first thing in the morning, even before breakfast. You’ll also get a huge energy boost to start your day.

There’s more where that came from. Check out the infographic below to find out how you can become a morning person.
