Everyone loves a good love story. Especially one that takes place during a young teen’s”bloom of youth”.

Everything about Evan’s love story told in this ad is typical of young romance, even riddled with cliches. Except for the dark, lurking mystery building right in front of your eyes.

Can you spot it?

Gotta admit, I did not see that coming.

And that’s exactly the point of the ad. To think that would-be gunmen planned his entire attack on-screen, right in front of our eyes and we didn’t notice is stunning.

It’s a great example of exactly what occurs in everyday life. The ad makes the argument that gun violence is preventable, you just have to see the warning signs.

“It is important for us to show youth and adults that they are not helpless in protecting their community from gun violence—these acts are preventable when you know the signs. Everyone has the power to intervene and get help. These actions can save lives.”

Whether or not that is true is another discussion entirely. It’s safe to say, though, that Sandy Hook Promise and the agency behind this ad make a powerful and compelling argument.
