This post is part of a regular series, “Powerful Advertising“, where we showcase some truly meaningful, effective, and powerful advertising.

Remember the Old Spice commercial that started it all? Starring Isaiah Mustafa, the ad kicked off a trend of weird and crazy advertising designed for millennials with short attention spans. It was so successful, Old Spice used the actor for a series of follow up ads, and have been using that same formula ever since.

After Mustafa, they used Terry Crews, that massively jacked black guy you remember from so many of your favorite movies and tv shows. All of his commercials basically consisted of muscles and screaming. Lots, and lots of screaming…

Now, Old Spice have combined the two into the same ad for the first time, and the result is a winner.

Old Spice just never stops with the weird. (and effective)

Wouldn’t it be a wonder to work with the team who brings us these brilliant commercials? Any idea what agency/studio works on these? Oh to be an intern or a fly on the wall…

It would appear the agency behind it is Wieden + Kennedy Portland. Going to need a big budget if you want to work with them! Would be nice.
